How It Works
/
Community Solar Farm
A large, centralized solar array (the “solar farm”) is built by a developer in an area with optimal sunlight, like a field or a large commercial rooftop. This farm generates clean, renewable electricity and is professionally managed and maintained.
Subscribe to a Share
Instead of buying panels, you simply subscribe to a specific portion (or “share”) of the energy generated by the solar farm. The size of your share is usually annual usage, aiming to offset a significant portion of your bill. The enrollment is online and requires nothing to be installed.
Energy flows to Local Grid
The electricity generated by your shared solar farm is sent directly into the local utility power grid. It mixes with all the other electricity that powers your community, increasing the total amount of clean energy in the system and reduces reliance on traditional power plants.
Utility Tracks Your Share
Your local utility company monitors the energy flowing into the grid from the solar farm and tracks how much electricity your share produced over the month. They translate that energy production into a monetary credit and apply it to your utility account to offset electricity charges.
You Realize Your Savings
How you experience your savings depends on your specific plan (UCB or Dual Bill), but the end result is always the same: your total electricity costs go down. You will see a “Community Solar Credit” applied to your utility charges, lowering what you owe them.
Subscribe to a community solar farm and enjoy long‑term savings while supporting clean, local energy.
